Personalized Apostille Solutions

You're making the move to Colombia for something important in your life. You're moving to to live and work in beautiful Medellin as a digital nomad, or perhaps you're moving to get married to your beautiful Colombian fian. Maybe you're buying property, creating a foreign subsidiary, or accomplishing some other personal or business milestone.

If you are personally applying for a visa, residency, or citizenship, you'll need to get Apostilles for your certificates from the state of issuance (birth certs, marriage certs, no marriage record, divorce decrees, etc.) Many states have long mail in processing times, we have agents on the ground in most states to expedite this in person.

When it comes to the FBI background check that you need to present for most visas, residencies, and pathways to citizenship, it normally takes 3-5 weeks to produce if you are mailing it in to the FBI. We are able to produce an expedited 24 hour background check using our FBI approved channeler. The best part is that you can send us the fingerprint card from Colombia to us in the US, never having to leave Colombia if you are already there.

Notarized documents for business we can handle completely online and have back to you digitally in under 24 hours avoiding having to deal with international shipping.

Your apostille fulfillment plan and pricing will range on a variety of factors including the different states/federal agencies you have to work with as well as personal factors like name changes, previous marriages, and timeline.

The fastest way to receive an instant quote is by completing our online form—or, if you prefer, by giving us a call directly. One of our dedicated apostille specialists will guide you through the process and ensure the correct method is applied to your documents. From the very start, we assign a specialist to each order to carefully manage every step and guarantee accuracy throughout.

What is an Apostille?

An Apostille, pronounced as "ah-po-steel," originates from the French term for certification.

An Apostille is a specialized certificate issued by the Secretary of State that is attached to your original document to confirm its authenticity and legitimacy, ensuring its acceptance in countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention.

HAGUE VS NON HAGUE COUNTRIES

In 1961, many countries joined together to create a simplified method of authenticating documents for universal recognition. Members of the conference, referred to as the Hague Convention adopted a document referred to as an Apostille that would be recognized by all member countries.

There are two categories of destination countries: those that are part of the Hague Convention and those that are not. Apostilles can exclusively be obtained for countries within the Hague Convention. If your intended destination falls outside the scope of the Hague Convention, it is categorized as a non-Hague Country. In such cases, authentication is required through the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C. and/or embassy legalization for the specific country. If you are unsure what the process if for your specific document, give us a call.

What Documents Can I Apostille?

Superior Service For Expats in Colombia

We take a lot of pride in being US citizens specializing in Colombia, and knowing all the ins and outs of such a popular destination for US Expats. We offer services of course to those who are still in the US and planning their travel to Colombia, but we especially accommodate expats who have already moved abroad, and don't want to travel back to the US to do the legwork of document retrieval and apostille processing. We work with the best shipping services, including FedEx and DHL, to ensure you can send us your documents to get an apostille wherever you are.

FBI background checks typically take 3–5 weeks by mail, but through our FBI-approved channeler we can expedite the process in just 24 hours. Even better—you can send us your fingerprint card directly from Colombia without needing to leave the country.

No matter what state or agency you're dealing with, we have partners across the country who can help us expedite your apostille requests wherever they originate from in the country.

Meet the Owner

Terrence Harris

Notary Public & Apostille Agent

Founder & Owner of Colombia Apostille and Fingerprinting

Hi, I'm Terrence, and as a US based expert in both fingerprinting and apostille, it came my attention a few years ago that many of my clients, colleagues, and even personal acquaintances were moving to Colombia. It has always been an expat hub and more recently become the preferred destination for American digital nomads.

As one of the premier service providers of fingerprinting services in the US, it also came to my attention that many apostille service providers in Colombia were needing my help to expedite fingerprint cards. Because I am able to process fingerprint cards same day through my approved channeler (of which there aren't many), I began receiving many B2B requests by companies serving Colombian clients.

That's also how I learned that Colombia has been making their requirements stricter and stricter every year for Americans applying for visas, residencies, and citizenships. Certain "workarounds" or improperly apostilized documents used to be accepted, but now things must be done the proper way.

Unfortunately, doing things the proper way could mean working with multiple states and government agencies to get all of your documents apostilized correctly so that there is no issue/denial/delay when presenting them to Colombia authorities. And sometimes the turnaround timelines are months if you are trying to process everything from abroad.

For those reasons, I have created a Colombia Expat focused service specifically to expedite the commonly required documents I'm already processing for my B2B clients. As a small business owner, I want to make myself available to the public so that you too can get expedited processing at reasonable rates. I am here to take the stress of the apostille process off your shoulders including any related needs like document retrieval, translation, notarization, and anything else that comes up along the way
